W e were delighted to welcome so many friends of Castlefield Forum, old & new, to the event at Dukes 92 on Monday evening 13 November.
The aim was to encourage Castlefield folk to chat and mingle and consider joining one of the Action Groups to get more involved on a practical basis. We also needed to take a vote on changing our basic constitution as a voluntary, community group to a more formal constitution that would enable us to make an application to the Charity Commission to become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.
Well we succeeded on all counts. 57 people attended the event, kindly sponsored by Dukes 92, who provided a welcoming drink for everyone and a slice or two of their delicious pizza. Several people signed up to get involved in the various Action Groups and we recorded an overwhelming vote to move to the new constitution! The application process for charitable status starts now.
Many thanks to everyone who came along and to Dukes 92 for their hospitality. If you weren’t able to attend but are interested in getting involved, these are the current Action Groups. We welcome anyone with expertise or an interest in any of these areas:
- Roman Gardens (including Friends of the Roman Gardens)
- Gardening & Environment
- Events, Marketing & Media (including website & signage)
- Spirit of Place (supported by the National Trust)
