Castlefield Events – 2016

2016 Events Programme:

May 12th – 15th –  Castlefield Food Festival

T3 Events in partnership with The Castlefield Forum will hold a 4 day food festival in celebration of local and international food incorporating a Street Food Market, Farmers and Producers Market, World Market, Demonstration Kitchen (local chefs, local people) and Kids Zone.  In addition to the market element, the festival will also have a live demonstration and entertainment stage.  The event is free to access and will run from Thursday 12 May 1600 – 2200 and Friday 13 May through to Sunday 15 May, 11:00 – 22:00.

The load in of the festival will commence 10 May – with the facility open to the public on Thursday 12 – 15 May.  The event will be contained within a controlled site incorporating the Arena, Kenworthy and Area 7. During the event, there will be periodic amplified sound – with food and drink demonstrations and presentations as well as DJ and Live Bands in the evening. Appropriate stewarding, medical, cleansing and toilet facilities will be provided.

There will be no impact on access to buildings or resident or business car parking facilities.  Sound levels will be monitored so that they operate within the license conditions and any on the day issues can be directed to the contact below.

May 22nd  – Love Running Manchester  

A Charity initiative run by St Peter’s Parish Church – consisting of 100 runners entering the Great Manchester Run.  Event consists of a modest marquee in the Roman Gardens which is used as a drop off and pick-up point before and after the race.  There will be an element of low level music to keep the runners motivated, food (hot dogs) and face paining. May 22nd – Morrisons Great Manchester Run

The Morrison’s Great Manchester Run will take place on Sunday 22 May with the finish area on Deansgate. There will be an impact on the surrounding area of the associated road closures – road closure details can be found here at http://www.greatrun.org/great-manchester-run

 

June 19th  – Manchester Day  

Manchester Day is an annual event that celebrates everything great about the city.  It is a day for families, residents and visitors to get together and celebrate all things Mancunian.   The theme of this year’s event is ‘Eureka’ which is set to inspire a host of diverse and creative ideas. Participants in the parade will start assembling from approximately 9:00am. July  1st  – 10th  –  Sounds of the City  

Building on the successful delivery of the Summer in the City concert series in 2015, Castlefield based SJM Concerts will stage the Sounds Of The City concert programme in Castlefield Arena.

Manchester City Council are working very closely with the concert promoters to minimise the impact on local residents and businesses in the surrounding area and we will be in contact with you again in advance of the event days with complete details for the management of the event and notice of  temporary road closures and parking restrictions etc.  As always, we will work to ensure access to car parks and properties is maintained on the event days.

 

August 27th – Pride Parade  

Parade assembly and starting point on Liverpool Road.  Residents of  Liverpool Road and other areas impacted by the road closure will receive more detailed information nearer the time.

The above represents the current confirmed programme . We are looking at other opportunities for events and art forms that will add value to the existing programme and create a varied programme of activity for the area and will do so in close consultation with the Castlefield Forum.
