Castlefield Neighbourhood Policing Team

Darren Kershaw

My name is Darren Kershaw and I’m the Inspector for the City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team.

My priorities for the area are quite simple. I want to build on the good work that is constantly being done by my team of officers and PCSOs who work closely with the council, businesses and licensees to provide an improved quality of life for our residents, workers and visitors.

The city brings a range of issues from anti-social behaviour to car crime, both of which can be a 24-hour concern in such a busy and vibrant place. My team makes it their daily business to channel our efforts and resources into reducing this type of crime.

We are currently carrying out an operation in the Piccadilly Gardens area to tackle anti-social behaviour and have also seen some excellent results in reducing car crime in the city.

I look forward to meeting members of our community and ensuring that the area remains a safe and happy place to live in, work in and enjoy.

We work closely with other organisations both in the public and private sector to make our city a safe and enjoyable place to live, work and visit. We have recently been told by the residents of the Castlefield area that graffiti is an issue and we have made this a priority for the team to tackle.

Castlefield’s team is out there identifying areas that need attention and will continue to look at how we can prevent graffiti from occurring at all. We will also be prioritising burglary, vehicle crime and anti social behaviour affecting the area over the coming 12 months.

Officers can be found regularly patrolling the city’s streets so if you have anything you would like to talk to them about in relation to your neighbourhood, they are more than willing to listen and help.
