Major clean up session in the Castlefield area

Last Thursday, 3rd August,  we had a major clean up session in the Castlefield area including the Roman Gardens, in preparation for ‘North West In Bloom – It’s Your Neighbourhood’ competition.

On Friday 4th August the judges did their walkabout and seemed to be very impressed by what they saw – fingers crossed for a good result when the winners are announced in October!

None of this would have been possible without the help of our volunteers. Despite the rain, sorry – despite the torrential downpours – people turned up and got on with the job in hand.

Thank you to the following:

– to the enthusiastic team from Auto Trader who spent all day weeding, sweeping and generally giving the area a good clean up.

– to David and Helen from Olliers who came out to do a litter pick in the Roman Gardens.

– to Keith, Ann, Carol S, Carol M, Tina, Jim, Cindy and Beth.

– to Harry Slater from Barca for providing us with not just one, but two complimentary drinks.

Last but not least – Thanks to the Biffa team for picking up lots of rubbish bags from all over the Castlefield area (plus doing a special clean up too).

We did get soaked a few times, but thankfully the sun eventually came out  just in time for drinks!

Best wishes.

Ann, Tina, Carol
